Before you shell out any of your hard-earned cash and make any final payments to cleaning contractors, first do a walk-through inspection of the property to determine if all work has been satisfactorily completed. When doing your walkthrough inspection, make a list of any discrepancies you find, and give it to the contractor to correct. In doing this, be fair and realistic, but do not let anyone take unfair advantage of you. When making your final payments, be certain you get a release of lien form signed by the contractor, which states that he or she has been paid in full for all of the labor and materials used on your property cleanup.
